LGBT Tech has continued to weigh in on specific privacy concerns for the LGBTQ community and today, I’m excited to share another step we are taking to ensure policymakers are aware and have the information to adequately protect our community's unique needs when it comes to privacy.
Today LGBT Tech filed in NTIA’s Request for Comment on Developing the Administration's Approach to Consumer Privacy (Docket No. 180821780-8780-01). LGBT Tech has consistently called for and continues to call for clear bipartisan, federal rules that include the core principles of transparency, no blocking, and no discrimination of legal content should be upheld in any framework to ensure the protection of a free Internet while still protecting our privacy.
LGBT Tech applauds the NTIA for raising the important questions and issues contained around Consumer Privacy. As our comments outline, the protection of data privacy is of paramount importance to the LGBT community, particularly where data breaches or other unauthorized uses can lead to catastrophic consequences for members of our community. LGBT Tech urges the NTIA to pay close attention to the concerns and needs of civil and social rights groups that may be uniquely affected by these rules.
