At LGBT Tech, our commitment to empowering LGBTQ+ individuals and communities has always driven the mission behind our programs. Today, we’re thrilled to share the 2023 Impact Reports for PATHS and PowerOn, two initiatives making real, tangible change in the lives of LGBTQ+ people across the United States. This past year was filled with growth, resilience, and powerful stories of progress, thanks to our community's incredible support.
PATHS Program: Bridging Gaps in STEAM
In 2023, our PATHS program focused on uplifting LGBTQ+ individuals pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). The program provided $74,952 in educational grants to 18 students, helping to alleviate financial stress and support their academic journeys. Through our mentorship network, 22 mentees successfully graduated, with 89% reporting growth in their professional networks and 95% expressing that they found a welcoming, supportive community in PATHS.
We also celebrated an increase in visibility with over 29,000 views on our PATHS interviews, which spotlighted LGBTQ+ professionals across diverse STEAM fields, inspiring others to follow their own paths.
PowerOn Program: Digital Access for All
PowerOn continued to bridge the digital divide for LGBTQ+ individuals, providing $163,416 in technology grants to community centers and individuals, and reaching 262,342 people across 30 states and territories. This support facilitated essential services such as 3,008 mental health appointments, 1,083 primary healthcare visits, and job-seeking assistance, with 669 individuals finding employment thanks to PowerOn resources.
Our Individual Tech Grant program distributed $38,012 in personal technology grants, with 93% of recipients reporting new access to resources that were previously unavailable to them.
