Currently the research available around the LGBT community and technology, including research about adoption, use, trends and benefits is limited. The LGBT Technology Institute is committed to expanding this research to better LGBT communities all around the world.
PowerOn Impact Report 2023
Each year, PowerOn conducts research with the organizations that were granted technology through the PowerOn program to better understand the impact of technology in the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals. This research is conducted through an annual survey and with information collected throughout the year.

Digital Access, Usage, and Experiences of the LGBTQ+ Community
LGBT Tech, in collaboration with Data for Progress, has released a comprehensive survey revealing the digital access, usage patterns, and online experiences of LGBTQ+ adults across the United States. Amid rising concerns about digital equity and inclusion, this research underscores the critical need for ensuring robust digital access and safe online spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals. The research, titled “ctrl-alt+lgbt,” illustrates the profound impact of digital connectivity on the LGBTQ+ community’s daily life, communication, health, education, and employment.
LOGGED OUT, LEFT OUT: How Online Platform Regulations and Anti-LGBTQ+ Efforts Align in the States
LGBT Tech has released a new report outlining the dangerous intersection that can exist between state-level platform regulations and anti-LGBTQ+ efforts within those states. Titled Logged Out, Left Out, we hope this report serves as both a resource and a timely reminder that digital equity is more important than ever.
